Our Ocean, Our People, Our Prosperity
The Government of the Republic of Palau together with the United States will host the seventh Our Ocean Conference in Koror, Palau, April 13-14, 2022. The conference began as a U.S. Department of State initiative to draw international attention to the serious threats facing the world’s ocean and to commit to concrete action around the globe to support marine conservation and sustainable development.
The 2022 Our Ocean Conference theme is “Our Ocean, Our People, Our Prosperity.” Our Ocean 2022 includes a focus on two significant cross-cutting issues: the ocean-climate nexus and the importance of a healthy ocean to small island developing states and all communities where the ocean serves as a primary source of sustenance. As the first small island developing state to host the Our Ocean Conference, Palau will highlight the specific challenges that islands face due to the ocean-climate crisis.

Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry will co-host the Our Ocean 2022 Conference with Palau President Surangel Whipps, Jr. A U.S. interagency delegation will participate in the 2022 conference, as well as U.S. representatives from civil society and industry.
