Departure Tax

Regular and Official passport holders are required to pay a $20 departure tax plus a $30 green fee ($50 total) per person.

Health Information

Cholera and Yellow Fever immunizations are required for those arriving from infected areas.

Please be advised that Palau has occassional outbreaks of Dengue Fever.

Security Threat Information

Koror is low threat for terrorism; low threat for crime, however visitors should be aware that petty crime exists and should take normal precautions.  Koror state, where most of the population resides, enforces a curfew in the public interest from 0230-0600 Monday-Thursday; 0400-0600 Friday-Sunday.

Immigration, Custom, and Quarantine

United States citizens traveling to Palau must carry a valid passport. In the past, proof of citizenship, such as birth certificate would suffice, however that has changed. All visitors should have a return or onward ticket.

Climate

Palau enjoys a tropical climate all year round with an annual mean temperature of 82 °F (27 °C). Rainfall can occur throughout the year, averaging a total of 150 inches (3,800 mm). The average humidity over the course of the year is 82%, and although rain falls more frequently between July and October, there is still much sunshine. Typhoons are rare, as Palau is outside the main typhoon zone.

Transportation From Airport

Taxi: Palau is serviced by various taxi companies that provide services between Koror and the Palau International Airport. One-way fare from the airport to Koror is approximately $30. Please make sure to ask the exact amount of the fare before taking a taxi.

Shuttle bus: Most hotels and resorts provide airport transfers.  Please request this service when making reservations with your hotel of choice prior to arrival.
